Nina Nova. It's not a very well known name here in Khazan. Not yet, anyway. I just got here not that long ago, actually. It got a bit too... unfriendly, back home. Of course, I suppose that's to be expected after you assassinate the most popular king a planet has ever had, on live television, at his daughter's wedding. And then proceed to kill said daughter, her almost husband, and about 90% of the spectators just to create a diversion so you can escape, and then get double crossed by the organization that hired you. Yeah, that was real fun. I still don't know where the hell those bozos got a dragon at, or why they used it on me instead of the King. Morons. ~But, I digress. See, I can't really complain, I got the money I was promised. I had to take it by force, sure, but then I also got the added satisfaction of watching those losers burn. And the money was more than enough to move here, get me a nice place up in Uptown, and start my business over from scratch. Really, I could have retired with that much money. I'll never spend it all as it is. But why the hell would I retire? I mean, you're not really living unless you're living dangerously, right? Besides, I've put too much damned effort into my training to just stop. I spent fifteen long years training with the Assassin's Guild of Norbleh. ~Yeah, Norbleh, got a problem with that? I know, the name's stupid. Don't blame me, blame the idiots that named the damn town. Anyway, yeah, I spent fifteen years with them. Learning magic, training for speed and agility, that kind of thing. Started when I was... wait, no, I'm not going to tell you that. I'd be admitting my age then, no way in hell. Let's just say I've been in this business for more than half of my life and leave it at that, shall we?~So, now I'm here. Getting the word out about my services hasn't been the easiest thing in the world, though. You've got all these idiots in tights running around in this city. Gotta watch you don't tell them what you do or your career gets cut rather short. But I managed to get word of my services out there and got a few jobs already. Most of them were simple small time deals but recently I got one that looked promising. Some guy named Zero, or was that Xero? Well, whatever. All I had to do was kill some guy's girlfriend and I'd earn me three times what I made on the first six jobs I took here, combined. I should have realized nothing is ever that simple, and if something sounds too good to be true, yeah, it usually is.

I hate being double crossed, you know? It's just not any fun. I do an honest... well, ok, not so honest day's work. But I do it. And I do it well. At least, I'd like to think so. So I'd like to be properly paid for my services. That's not too much to ask, is it? But no, you get cheapskates out there that refuse to pay, or worse, guys that consider you a loose end and decide to try and kill you. Please, I do this for a living. If you were that good you wouldn't have needed to hire me in the first place. Moron. But it still happens. Like that Zoro guy... or, no, Xara? Bah, whatever.~The point is, I did what he wanted and then what do I get for my efforts? The little SOB says 'Thanks, nice job' and then tries to F'ing blow me up! Little prick. Only good thing that came from it is I got to burn down a few buildings. Burning stuff is always a plus to any situation. Yeah, yeah, I admit it, ok? I'm a pyromaniac at heart. It's why fire is my weapon of choice. Anyway, so this guy hires me, I do the job, and then he tries to kill me. And then guess what? The boyfriend of the girl I offed for Xuro... Zaru... Xe... what's-his-name shows up. Apparently he's a superhero in town. Damn, I should have figured that. So, yeah, now I've got him on my ass. Look, kid, I'm just doing my job, K?~And I never did get my money from the guy...

Planning Makes Perfect

     Tactician: Standard

I'm not really sure how things got this... complicated. Really, it wasn't that unusual of a job. The guy approached me, offered me the job, gave me a picture of the girl in question and some details and left the rest to me. I don't really need much data to work off of. She was just a regular human, no powers or anything, so no issues there. I knew where she was, too. Being this guy's girlfriend meant she would, eventually, show up at the Megaton Headquarters building. Why? Well, because he's the son of the woman that runs the place. Figured the assassination was some sort of business related deal or something. Anyway, I set myself up outside the Megaton Inc. main offices, across the street in an abandoned building, and set up my plan. It was simple. I'd wait until she showed up, I'd fry her to a crisp, and then I'd leave. Piece of cake.

Method of Choice

     Fire: Superior

  • Ranged Attack Only
  • Area Affect
  • Multi-Attacks
  • Ranged and Melee Attack

I only had to wait six hours. A lot less than I'd expected, actually. And she wasn't going into the building, she was coming out. Along with a few others. I recognized the guy with her from the stuff what's-his-name had shown me. Seth something or other. And off limits. Guy didn't care who else I had to take out to get to the girl, just not him. Didn't know why, still don't. Don't really care, either. Anyway, I saw her coming out with him and another girl, Halley. Seth's sister. With my target in sight I got to my feet, reached my arm out the window aiming my palm down toward her, and generated a magical fire ball. My little balls of flame pack quite the punch, you know. One shot and the average person is burned enough that, while not dead yet, they will be soon. Two shots and they're toast. Of course, those shots need to hit to do anything... but that's not really an issue.

Dead Aim

     Marksman: Standard

See, you don't learn to use a ranged method of killing people without getting good at it. I'm not perfect, I still miss on occasion, but my accuracy is damn good. A point proven true when the fireball I loosed hit the girl in question dead on in the face. Well, ok, I was aiming for a center mass shot, but I still hit her. My skill is good enough I can hit the target, just not always in the location I intended. But hey, it's fire, you don't need to be able to shoot a fly out of the air at fifty yards with it. Soon as I saw where I hit I knew the job was done. Normal girl with a face full of fire doesn't usually last very long. Five minutes, max. So, I left. See? Piece of cake. Not a single hitch. Not until later when Xara or whatever decided to kill me instead of paying me, anyway.

Aware of My Surroundings

     Environmental Awareness: Superior

I felt it. As soon as I told him the job was done I felt it. That sudden and undeniable sense of dread, of danger. And it was coming from him. Damn. I knew then he wasn't going to be paying me without some serious convincing. Huh? How'd I know? Well, it's complicated. Part of my assassin training. I can just sense that sort of thing. Something the guild picked up from monks. Being aware of the world around you and being able to sense intent and all that. And, wait, why the hell does it matter how I knew? All that matters is that I knew. And once I knew I moved. ~Good thing too, the SOB shot some sort of green energy crap at me, blew up the apartment behind me. I figure that's what drew the other guy's attention. I'm there focusing on the guy that hired me when I get the feeling of being watched. Then the other guy goes and shoots his own energy crap at me from behind! Well, can't really blame him. I did kill his girlfriend. 'Sides, I dodged at the last second anyway and he knocked Zura or Zoru or whatever his name is through the wall. Ironic, I suppose. Kid probably saved my life... I kinda suck at hand-to-hand.

Can't Hit Me

     Super Speed: Standard

Course, then he comes charging down at me from the sky with an f'ing sword in his hands. And I should tell you, I didn't know who he was at the time. I mean, he was covered in black armor, I really couldn't get a look at his face. Besides, I was rather focused on dodging the f'ing sword in his hands. That took priority. Not that it was too difficult. The kid was decent but he was no Musketeer. And I'm far from slow on my feet. When you spend years training with people that like to use swords and daggers for up close fighting you develop rather good reflexes. You see something coming at your head and you move out of the way. But this kid, he just would. Not. Give. It. Up!

Physical Training

     Acrobat: Superior

Do you have any idea how hard it is to win a fight when neither person is landing any hits? Let me tell you, it's not easy. I was dodging his swings, and his black crap blasts, and he was managing to avoid my fire balls. We probably wasted half of the city block, if not more, just trying to actually hit each other. And let me tell you, I'm good, but even I have my stamina limits. I was getting tired and decided it was time to just get the hell out of there. So, next swipe he took with that sword of his was my cue to leave. I jumped up, flipped over him, used his head as a spring board to launch myself at one of the few walls still standing, and then pushed off of that too and landed on the roof of the building beside it. Of course, he wasn't about to give up there. Annoying little prick, he starts flying up after me!

Riding the Flames

     Energy Wave Surfing: Superior

It was a bad day all around and I'd had my fill. Double crossed and attacked by my employer and then ambushed by the irate boyfriend of my target. I wasn't sure how fast Mr. Metal Pants could fly but I figured I can move faster in the air than on the ground, so as long as the fates didn't hate me it was my best bet to get out of there. After throwing another fire ball his way to distract him I ran to the edge of the roof and leapt off. Then it was a simple matter of super heating the air under my feet to create a wave of flame to ride. It's not that hard to guide fire with magic so it's even easier than surfing waves in the ocean. Only bad thing is I tend to melt off the soles of my shoes. Oh well, no biggie, I can move pretty quickly that way so it's worth it. In moments I'd left the armored guy behind. He couldn't move fast enough to keep up, which was fine by me. I needed to get home, take a nice long bath, and start planning a way to get my money.

In My Element

     Immunity: Standard

So, there you go. That's me in a nutshell, really. Huh? Not get burned? What are you, stupid? What, do you think someone that uses fire every day, is constantly flinging fire balls around, and sets her feet on fire for transportation, wouldn't have made herself immune to the effects of fire? It wasn't that hard, did it during my assassin training with the guild. Spent weeks perfecting the enchantment I used and then sticking a hand into a fire only to sear off a few layers of flesh. But eventually I got it worked out perfectly. Hell, I could walk through the sun without breaking a sweat now. Now, if you'll excuse me, I still need to figure out how I'm going to get my money.

Can't See Me

     Invisibility: Superior

It's been three months since Xeru or whatever ripped me off and still no trace of him. He's just up and vanished, it'd be my luck the prick skipped out of the dimension completely. At least Metal Pants hasn't run into me again yet and I've gotten a few other decent jobs and made some more cash. I've also run into some real pains in the ass along the way. My shoulder still f'ing hurts my run in with Ms. Killer Voice. Still don't know why the hell my fire didn't work either... But I digress, that's not the point here. I've found that here in Khazan keeping your ass out of sight is about a million times more important, and more difficult, than it was back home. Wasn't sure what the hell to do about that until I was walking home one day and saw the road shimmering ahead of me.~Only, it wasn't really shimmering, of course. You know the effect when heat's rising, how it distorts things and crap? And here I just happen to use fire as weapon, I was staring my answer right in the face. Took a few days of trial and error to get right but now I can wrap myself up in a nice cocoon of heat that distorts the light around my body and makes me invisible. The cocoon weakens a little when I generate a fireball, but meh, not a real issue. I don't plan on attacking anyone whent they're looking my way so they still wont see me. No more sore shoulders, no trying to sneak up on someone when all they have to do is turn around and see me creeping there and yell at me to knock me out, and no more needing to play run and gun with the various super powered bozos in this city.~'Bout damn time, too. I was getting seriously sick of that crap. Now, I think I'm going to go put another ice pack on my shoulder and get me out a bottle of wine.

A More Traditional Weapon

     Projectile Attack: Standard

  • Ranged Attack Only
  • Armor Piercing
  • Ranged and Melee Attack
  • Weakness: Limited Uses - Multi-Use

So I got to thinking, being invisible is all well and good, but I still suck at hand to hand fighting. Which means if my fire fails on me again for some reason, still haven't figure out why it did before, but if it fails again I'm still in deep shit. Sure, I can try and sneak up on the person and hit them or something, but I'm no Judo master or anything. I can throw a punch or a kick but I'd probably be as likely to break a finger or toe as to hurt the other guy. So, I figured, why not go a little mundane? Yeah, I actually went out and bought me a gun.~Imagine that, a magical flame using assassin with a six shooter. Yeah, I got a revolver. Revolvers are just cooler than automatics. I've always thought so anyway. It only carries six rounds and I'm not going to bother carrying extras with me. But really, I don't see me needing more than six shots. I am a pretty good aim at distance shooting after all. So even if my fire craps out on me again I can still keep my distance and snipe your ass. Still causes my heat wrap to shimmer when I shoot but I'll make sure whoever I'm going to shoot isn't looking at me before I do. Sucks for you, but I'm pleased.
