Darkender

Khazan City’s night sky is usually lit by large buildings touching the atmosphere along with street lights that overshadow the stars, but that changed when the sky morphed. A sudden pinkish blue hue came over the once black clearing. The nocturnal beings of the city looked up into the sky at the colored spectacle. The sky's metamorphosis was then followed by a blinding flash. The city then blacked out for miles so the only remaining light was a bright luminescent orb descending down upon them. The crowds all covered their eyes instinctively, and when they opened them again the large floating light was suddenly hovering above them. The crowds gasped and looked in awe at what seemed like a bright star that hung on nothing above them. It began to glow brighter and then a smaller light seemed to fall off in the distance from the larger star. Then in another abrupt flash it was gone. The black night sky returned. The crowds looked at each other, some puzzled, while others cheered for some strange reason, but none was quite sure of what they just witnessed.

30 minutes outside of Khazan City

The smaller light crash landed in the woods a couple miles away from the city. The light burned bright and the nearby critters seemed to be drawn to it. It wasn't long before the illuminated orb was surrounded by rodents, insects, and birds alike. They circled around the orb as if it called upon them. The orbs light began to diminish and the characteristics of a spacecraft could now be seen. The ship still emitted light however as an astronaut's silhouette could be seen stepping out of it. It stood tall among the animals and breathed heavily as it shed its spacesuit. It slowly unlatched itself from the wearer's body and fell to the floor revealing the wearer's grayish skin and slender demeanor. He put his foot out to take a step, but stumbled to the floor landing on his hands. Earth's gravity caught him off guard. As the light faded from the spacecraft the animals turned their attention to the humanoid that now knelt among them. He attempted to stand again as he watched and listened to his surroundings.

"Hello Earth." He said in a relieved yet calm manner. He began to walk and the forest creatures followed each of his lanky steps. He stopped abruptly, finally noticing the animals at his feet. "Well, hello there creatures of Earth." He said as he outstretched his hand and allowed a rabbit to nibble on his finger.

Meanwhile the internet and the news ran with the story of the light above Khazan City.

"Hello I'm Sonja Ferral with Channel 6 News, and this is a breaking report. It seems no less than 10 minutes ago this was the scene above Khazan City."

A cut scene was then shown of the floating light orb that was suspended above the city momentarily. The night sky changed to a pinkish blue hue and after a blinding flash the large orb of light appeared. People also say this was the cause of the large black out that spread all throughout Khazan City and still left parts of the Bottoms without power. Of course, the first thoughts of most is that this was yet another of many alien encounters, but the military assures us that this was nothing more than a test flight of a soon to be military aircraft. However, specialists say, "whatever that was that was floating above Khazan was far beyond our technology and--"

The Government sent out its cover story and The National Guard was sent in immediately. The Khazan Government wanted to handle this as subtly as possible. They decided not to disclose the news of the second light that departed from the main orb and sent a team to investigate it instead.

The Humvees raced across the city to where they approximated the light would land and pushed through the forest armed and ready for the encounter. Two astrophysicists rode along in hopes of making sure this encounter would not become violent.

The Alien looked up from his new found friends and looked out into the distance. He could sense their arrival. He stood up and walked towards where they would be momentarily.

The humvees stopped as their headlights spotlighted the alien. He stood tall, well above seven feet as he observed them and they did the same. The machine guns mounted on the Humvees also seemed to stare down the alien as the men behind them nervously kept their fingers close to the trigger. It wasn't long before three men slowly closed the gap between them, walking cautiously. The scientists wore a white hazmat suit while the third, which walked behind them, wore a simple gas mask. The Colonel also carried his M16A4 close to his chest.

"Welcome to Earth." One of the scientists said in a bit louder than a normal speaking voice. He continued to talk this way. "I am Dr. Neigh and this is Dr. Collins. Do you understand what I am saying?"

"Yes." The Alien replied calmly.

Dr. Neigh smiled excitedly as he looked toward Dr. Collins. "Good. Good. This is good. May I ask your name, and who you come with?"

"I have come alone and you may call me Jor."

"It's nice to meet you Jor. But I must ask you now, would you mind coming with us as we have much to ask you? I'm sure you're tired from your travel and could use some refreshments... That is if you need any." Dr. Neigh nervously expressed.

Jor paused for a moment, taking a second look out at the small regiment that accompanied them, "No."

"Why not, may I ask?"

"I am not here to talk to you." He began to walk away when the Colonel drew his weapon.

The Colonel interjected. "You don't have a choice, boy. You have invaded Khazan Air Space. Now you either come with us nice like or we're gonna knock you out and drag you along!" A worried look came over the face of the scientists as an awkward silence grew between the two groups.

"Very well." Jor said as he turned back towards them and raised his hands.

He then raised his hand and an odd pitch carried out from it, reverberating throughout the air. The humvees’ engines stalled, flashlights went dead and all mechanical objects seemed suddenly go dead due to the strange call. The soldiers raised their weapons in response as their trigger fingers were itching to pull.

Jor flicked his wrist and the soldiers who had raised their weapons were flung into the air, leaving their guns on the floor. The soldiers on the Humvees then scrambled, attempting to use their machine guns, but the machines would not respond. Jor continued to walk forward pass the scientists that stood in awe at his abilities. He put his hands together and then pulled them apart, casting the humvees aside like toy cars. He approached the door of one of the humvees. The frightened soldier sat inside in the driver's seat. The door then was ripped off the vehicle and the soldier was pulled out behind it. Jor then lowered his head into the Humvee and placing his hand on the dashboard the car came back to life. The engine revved and the head lights flickered on and off as they blinded the scientists that were glued to their spots in fear from all the action.

Dr. Neigh looked on in terror as the flickering light blinded him and thought. "Why have you come here?"

He could then hear the monotone voice of Jor answer back. "I am here for the Heroes of Earth."
